We believe that the number one way to combat poverty, violence, and hunger is with a strong education. That begins with our youth. We created Find Your Beat in the hopes of enriching the lives of underserved Columbia children. This program teaches Columbia youth how to have pride in themselves and in their education. all through the performance of music.
Find Your Beat chooses an unconventional route of music: the percussion ensemble. Instead of traditional instruments, we use “recycled” instruments to show these students that anything can truly be made beautiful. Students play on buckets, trash cans, soda cans, and pots and pans, however, the sky is truly the limit.

About us
Find Your Beat is a youth music program that focuses on teaching underprivileged youth the basic tenets of music education, such as rhythm, musicality, and form, in a percussion ensemble setting. Other skills such as discipline, self-worth, hard work, are also taught in leadership classes to combat lack of education and poverty. Anti-violence can be a result as students find an outlet for violent tendencies, via the physical act of playing a drum.
Another part of the program will involve a creative process where students can create their own instruments and compose their own music. Rehearsal days will also include snack times, homework help, and other developmental services.
